Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what CountMeIn collects, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the CountMeIn website and app.

1. Information we collect

  • Account info you provide: name, email, password (hashed), phone (optional), profile photo, payment handles, and social handles.
  • Group and event content you and your group create: groups, events, RSVPs, guest names, polls, sign-up items, announcements, and messages.
  • Billing info for paid plans, handled by our payments processor. We store subscription status, not full card numbers.
  • Usage and device data: log entries, IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and interactions with the Service.
  • Cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, and analytics.

2. How we use information

  • Provide, secure, and support the Service.
  • Show your groups their shared content and RSVPs.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Send transactional messages (invites, event updates, receipts).
  • Send optional notifications (SMS, product updates) only if you turn them on. See Legal & Consents.
  • Detect abuse, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms.
  • Improve the Service, only with the consents you've granted (see "Data for improvement" on the consent page).

3. Sharing

  • With your group members. Content you post in a group is visible to members of that group.
  • With service providers (hosting, database, authentication, payments, email, SMS) that process data on our behalf under contract.
  • For legal reasons if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition.
  • We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. SMS notifications

If you opt in to SMS notifications, we'll send text messages related to your groups and events. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Opting in to SMS is never a condition of using the Service.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal, accounting, or security reasons.

6. Your rights and choices

  • Access, update, or delete your profile in your account settings.
  • Manage your consents (SMS, data for improvement, etc.) on the Legal & Consents page.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or other laws — including access, portability, correction, deletion, and objection. Email us to exercise them.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to prevent unauthorized access, use, and disclosure.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. International users

CountMeIn is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from another country, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the U.S.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
